Starting her career as a hairstylist at SHIMA, one of the most popular hair salons located in Daikanyama, Tokyo, Yukiko was to become very popular among the store’s fashion conscious clients. In deciding to pursue her career as a freelance hairstylist in 2002, she made the move to New York. She became a member of the Shiseido NY hair team, moving on later to work as main assistant to Luigi Murenu, and many years with Guido Palau working on many legendary shows and shoots which are still talked about to this day.
Currently based in New York, Yukiko now works internationally, taking part in Collections in Paris and Milan. Her work can also be found internationally in beauty and fashion shoots for VOGUE, ELLE, BAZAAR, i-D, Nylon, GQ magazine, L'officiel, Interview, Dazed and Confused, New York Times magazine and SPUR. Her advertising clients include H&M, Steven Alan, Anthropologie, Celine, WeSC, Laforet, SHEL’TTER, CLINIQUE, ALTEWAISAOME, DEMYLEE, M. Martin, Meadowlark and Hoyu. As for her backstage experiences, the list is endless, including YSL, Gucci, Givenchy, Miu Miu, PRADA, Fendi, Ferragamo, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Alexander Wang, DKNY, GAP, Calvin Klein, Mark Jacobs, Lanvin, Rag & Bone, Victoria's Secret and more.
